Germany’s Hürtgenwald Wildfire Forces Evacuation as Record Fire Spreads Across More Than 300 Hectares
A major forest fire in North Rhine-Westphalia has spread across more than three hundred hectares, prompting the evacuation of almost two thousand residents from Gey. Hundreds of firefighters, a European Union wildfire unit, Bundeswehr armored recovery vehicles and helicopters are supporting the response as severe dryness increases the pressure on emergency services.
