Chancellor Merz Warns of Growing Threats to Democracy at 65th Anniversary of Berlin Wall Construction

Chancellor Friedrich Merz used commemorations at the Brandenburg Gate to warn that freedom and democratic values in Europe face growing pressure and must be actively defended. Bundestag President Julia Klöckner also called for greater recognition of East Germans’ historical experiences in Germany’s national political debate.
