Germany Moves to Allow Carbon Capture and Storage for Steel and Chemical Industries

The German cabinet has approved rules allowing the underground storage and industrial use of carbon dioxide, opening a new path for hard-to-abate sectors such as steel and chemicals. The policy marks a significant shift in Germany’s industrial decarbonization strategy and is intended to help keep heavy industry in the country.
